In Alan Shore's speech he is able to hold the audiences attention by drawing an emotional connection with them and giving them interesting examples from real life. The purpose of the speech was to exonerate his client from a lawsuit for euthanizing 5 victims during hurricane Katrina. The overall message of the speech was that the conditions that the city was in was not american thus the constitution does not apply. Alan Shore was able to convey his message as he convinced the accusing party to drop the lawsuit. Overall his speech was incredibly portrayed from the way he used the tone, volume and pace of his voice for dramatic effect to his gestures with his hands. These things just added to the overall message of the speech and made it that much more convincing to everyone in the courtroom.
