I don't think Stephen Fry is overreacting i think he is legitimately concerned for any gay athletes or fans that wish to partake or watch the olympic games in Sochi. He has legitimate concern with the ban of pro-gay propaganda in Russia and the social disapproval towards gay people there. Being gay himself he has felt the discrimination they receive first hand and with police and government turning a blind eye towards harassment to gay and lesbian people within their jurisdiction he has every right to be worried not only for gay people in Russia but for any gay person that wishes to compete or visit the olympic games in Sochi next February. I agree with him that the IOC and the Russian government must come to an agreement to protect gay and lesbian people during the olympics or a greater action must be taken.
